Thaipongal

This event was held on 14 January 17, at the Civic Park, Pendle Hill. This event was well attended by many local community, old boys and their families and the State Member for local electorate. Many traditional games such as ‘Uri Adithal’, ‘Kayir illuthal (Tu-of-War)’, Volley Ball, dance & Dress competition’ were included. The event has been growing in popularity and was considered a JHC OBA signature event by many.

BBQ

This event was held at Auburn Park on 18th June 17. The JHC old boys and their families attended the event where food was cooked by the committee members and Tamil traditional sports including ‘adults and children races’, ‘Pillaiyar Perni’ and ‘Lime and spoon’ were part of the event. The number of old boys attended were more than the numbers attended in the previous year.

An evening with Dr. Aruthirumugan

A group discussion session with Dr. Aruthirumugan, an old boy of Jaffna Hindu College and an esteemed scholar, was organised on 01 February 17 at the Yaarl Function centre to understand the needs to improve the education and livings standards of young children in the Tamil villages in northern Sri Lanka.
