25 November 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee (2008) kick-off meeting
On 25th November 2007, the JHC OBA NSW Committee kick off meeting was held at Varathakeyan’s residence. Preparations for the Geethavani Awards 2008 took priority at this meeting.
10 November 2007 – JHC OBA Sydney – Annual General Meeting (AGM) and Dinner
The Annual General Meeting that was held at Homebush Boys’ High School on Saturday, 10th November and was attended by 39 Old Boys. The musical event , a karaoke show, and dinner that followed the AGM was attended by approximately 80 people. Overall, it was a an enjoyable event. Congratulations to the incoming president Varathakeyan Selvadurai and his 2008 Executive Committee.
01 November 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
A short meeting was held at Pratheepan’s residence to finalise plans for the AGM on the 10th November.
28 October 2007 – JHC OBA vs. Hartley College OBA Annual Cricket Match
JHC OBA Sydney and Hartley College OBA had their annual cricket match on Sunday 28th October at the Strathfield park (Homebush road Strathfield) from 9:30am to 3:30pm. Hartley College won the toss and elected JHC OBA to bat first. JHC OBA scored 295 runs in 30 overs. The main scorers were Nimalan (137 runs) who hammered the Hartley bowlers and hit consecutive 6’s and 4’s ; he also won the best Batsman award . Prushothaman (79 runs) who made sure that the Hartley fielders were always running and he was fantastic with the ball as well. He won the all rounder award . JHC OBA Sydney won by 100 runs. This was a wonderful achievement and it was a fantastic day to remember. The captain of the JHC OBA team was Suba who led the team to their victory. He was excellent in the field and kept everybody on their toes. Hartley College scored 194 runs in 23 overs and losing 4 wickets. Hartley OBA’s player Sutharshan won the best bowler award for taking 4 wickets and also scored 58 runs (not out) . The referees for the match were Petersingham representing Hartley College OBA and Varathekeyan representing JHC OBA Sydney.
The 2nd JHC OBA team (playing with semi-leather ball) also played well, but unfortunately lost the match. Close to 70 people came to this event to support the team and it was a wonderful get-together for the members and their families;

23 September 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
Plans for the AGM was discussed and the content of invitations letters were also discussed. Tasks were allocated to each member in preparation for the AGM. Project funding for JHC was discussed
7 September 2007 – JHC OBA Sydney vs. Hartley College Tennis Event 2007
First Tennis Match:
The tennis event between JHC OBA Sydney and Hartley College was held on Friday 7th September at the Parramatta Tennis centre, Barton Street, North Parramatta from 8am to 1pm. JHC OBA Sydney had two tennis practice sessions prior to the event. The JHC OBA team consisted of 13 players over 30s (5 teams). Hartley College won the overall event by a narrow margin. Sivakumaran was our captain and he did a fantastic job in leading the team. Our congratulations go to the Hartley College team. Thanks to Blue Elephant Restaurant for sponsoring the major trophy for the event. All in all, it was an enjoyable day for the members.
30 September 2007 – JHC OBA Sydney vs. Hartley College Tennis Final 2007
Final Tennis Match:
The teams that obtained the highest score on each side played each other for the winning trophy and it was held on Sunday 30th September at Southend Tennis Club in Enfield. JHC OBA won the final (6-3, 3-6, 6-4).. Hartley Team Consisted of Gnanasundaram and Jeyamenan and the JHC team consisted of Anandan and Ambikairajah.
17 June 2007 – Geethavani Awards Debriefing Meeting
The Geethavani Awards Debriefing meeting was held on Friday 17th June at Homebush High School. Many positive comments about the Geethavani Awards were sent to the committee, and these were discussed at the meeting. Suggestions for further improvements for the Geethavani Awards 2008 were also discussed. Organising our annual Tennis match (end of August), Cricket match (end of September) and the AGM (mid November) were discussed.
10 June 2007 – Geethavani Awards 2007
The Geethavani Awards were held on Sunday 10th June at the Ryde Civic Centre and the entire hall was booked out. The 12 contestants [Photo] were exceptional performers and raised the standard of the competition. The winner of the age 12-18 years category was Kaavya Jaishankar . Rekha Iyer was the winner of the age 19-35 years category. The winner of the over 35 years category was Gurunathapillai Jeyanathan . The Musical Director ‘Maestro’ ‘Visharadh’ Sarangan Sriranganathan and his band presented outstanding performances and the audience was amazed by the quality and originality of the show. All in all, the whole event was a massive success and JHC OBA Sydney received praise from the audience for the professionalism of this event.
9 June 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was held at Homebush Primary School on Saturday, 10th June. A final check of the tasks was done to ensure that everything was complete. The order of events for the Geethavani Awards was discussed with the Masters of Ceremonies.
3 June 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Jeyatheepan and Suntharesan on Sunday, 3rd June. A sample souvenir booklet was distributed for the committee members to assess and various changes were made to the sample. Ballot papers for voting were also discussed
27 May 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Pratheepan at his residence on Sunday, 27th May. The inclusion of a sample maths paper suitable for HSC students, along with some challenging maths questions in the souvenir booklet was discussed
20 May 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Nadeswaran at his residence on Sunday, 20 May 2007. Ticket sales were the main topic of discussion, booklet production has started and ballot papers for voting at the event are now being printed. Jeya’s proposal was also discussed. Event task list was updated.
13 May 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Rajayogan at his residence on Sunday, 13 May 2007. The main discussion was focussed on ticket sales and preparation for the Geethavani Awards. Tasks were delegated to various committee members for the actual event and the committee was informed that all the singers selected for the competition are undergoing training sessions with the Music Director
29 April 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Santhira at his residence on Sunday, 29 April and all committee members were in attendance . Discussions included ticket sales for the Geethavani Awards and A3 posters for advertising the event were distributed amongst the members for promotion. Audition results were discussed and the Music Director Sarangan has started to train the candidates for the competition.
15 & 19 April 2007 – Live Auditions
The Live Audition for the Geethavani Awards was held at Hombush Boys’ High School on Sunday 15th April. Another Live Audition was held on Thursday 19th April at Sarangan’s residence. Participants sang in front of the Music Director and 2 Executive Committee members. 12 contestants were selected for the competition. The decision was difficult because the standard was very high.
15 April 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Aravindhan at his residence on Sunday, 15th April, after the Live Audition on the day. Discussions included ticket sales for the Geethavani Awards and posters advertising the event were distributed amongst the members for promotion. Duties were assigned to members.
18 March 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Ambikairajah at his residence on Sunday 18th March. ‘Maestro’ ‘Wadya’ ‘Visharadh’ Sarangan Sri Ranganathan was in attendance at this meeting to discuss the Geethavani Awards and its implementation for the JHC OBA Sydney Event in June 2007. Tickets and leaflets for the Geethavani Awards were distributed to the Executive Committee members and discussions at the meeting included ideas for promotion and also sponsorship for the event.
18 February 2007 – JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee Meeting
The JHC OBA NSW Executive Committee meeting was hosted by Varathan at his residence on Sunday, 18 February. Tickets and leaflets for the Geethavani Awards were distributed to the Executive Committee members and discussions at the meeting included ideas for promotion (radio, television, newspapers etc) and also sponsorship for the event and a group photo was taken
